What has stopped you from communicating what you need to be able to orgasm during partnered sex?

I don’t want my partner to feel inadequate

Because I don’t know what it is I need to get there. I’ve never gotten there on my own.

I feel awkward but also don’t fully know what would make me orgasm

I feel embarrassed or get too much into my own head about expressing what I want or could want. It doesn’t matter that I know it’s silly, I just find it difficult to get over that feeling of shame and it’s preventing me from trying things that could work with a partner.

I genuinely don’t know what I need, I can only cum one way, and have no idea how to translate it into partnered sex. It also feels uncomfortable, especially not knowing. It feels like I should know.

It can feel like my job is to be responsive, and when I have tried to actively communicate what might activate or heighten my pleasure, even despite his stated interest in knowing that, my answer tends to be dismissed. Since I don’t actually know how to cum with a partner, I’m hoping for mutual discovery, but there doesn’t seem to be an available pathway for closing that “gap.”

Feeling pressure that my partner is turned on by my pleasure - if i communicate something isn’t working i don’t want to ruin a special moment. I was reliant on using toys to orgasm for many years and decided I wanted to stop for a period of time. While I am relearning to enjoy human touch my sensitivity is not consistent and takes a long time to build. With partners and solo.

In the past I felt like it was a pointless exercise and if we attempted it and it didn’t achieve climax then it was a waste of time. It was easier not to & to just get it over and done with.

The sex still felt good and didn’t want to appear as a burden wanting individualized attention.

Time, connection, complete bodily trust and safety

Lack of confidence

Embarrassment about the specific way I reach orgasm with myself – it feels more like a little girl, rather than a sexually empowered woman

Embarressed about what they might think of me as it can be quite taboo fantasies

I’m worried I will make my partner feel shameful that he isn’t doing it correctly, i want him to always think i am loving everything he does

I don’t like the response that I’m supposed to just enjoy it as it’s given because others seemed to

I feel like if I want to introduce my toy to help me orgasm, I’m undermining him - it feels like I’m hurting his feelings if he can’t make me orgasm without it

I’m the exact same!

Knowing that I had never orgasmed and wondered if the effort would be for nothing

I’m embarrassed that the less conventional method that I’ve used for manual masturbation looks too weird to do in front of another person. It also uses a lot of pressure and I’m scared they will say it will desensitize me, even though I don’t thinkkk that’s true?

As I was used to not having my pleasure prioritised, it’s now difficult for me in my current relationship to express what I like and need. I thinks kind of because I don’t really know what I like or need during penetrative sex.
